Fire on
El Jobean pier
The pier caught fire Friday evening,
creating a traffic hazard on SR776 and
a challenge for the fire fighters who
were positioned in three different
areas to extinguish the blaze:
From
a boat, the pier and on the Myakka
River Bridge.
No one
was hurt during the fire Friday
04/30/10 on the El Jobean fishing
pier, not even this bird who was too
young to fly away from the hazard, who
was rescued by an animal control
officer.

The pier was damaged, making it too
dangerous for folks to use, per the
story on Saturday May 1, 2010.
Charlotte County Parks and Recreation
will keep it closed for an
undetermined amount of time.
As of Friday, the cause is unknown.
Check out the sun-herald.com
site for the story that was published
on 5/1/10.
